As many of you know, Julie and I decided to rehome yet another ‘worthy cause’ and spied Bailey (a Border Collie / Labrador Cross) at Snetterton Dogs Trust, who was finding it hard to be rehomed, despite his obvious charm and personality. Julie had long since settled on wanting either breed, so she had both her dreams come true in one lovely dog. After very careful consideration and much advice from The Dogs Trust we rehomed Bailey in July 09 and boy what a roller coaster it has been. Immediately he fitted in with Max, Lady and Suzie and the very first day was out playing in the garden with all of them, leading the way, as he is a live wire. In fact because of his manner of bouncing across the garden, which is so comical to watch, we did consider renaming him to Bouncer, but stuck with Bailey which had been given to him by The Dogs Trust as he was yet another rehome from Ireland. In no time at all he disturbed the energy of the "pack" with his puppy like ways and boisterous behaviour, always wanting to play, morning, noon and night. But he has taught Max how to play and they love it, it has been so nice to see Max come out of himself, as some of you will know, he is shy and retiring normally. Our biggest worry was Suzie, but she and Bailey get on like bosom buddies and just love play fighting and chasing each other, sharing toys and trying to steal them from one another. When Bailey came home he was quite thin, you could see his rib cage (reminiscent of Trailies after retiring) and he was on medication due to his kennel stress, but he is now fattening nicely, his coat is black and very glossy and he is a bundle of raw energy and love, always wanting affection. Sadly for Julie, she got more than she bargained for, as he follows her everywhere and I do mean everywhere, he can't bear to be parted from her. A right Mummy's Boy! We are so glad we rehomed him, he did not deserve to be constantly rehomed, it just needed understanding LOTS OF PATIENCE and plenty of energy from the owners. We have had quite a lot of bedding chewed, we have almost lost a £20 note and if I can't find my walking boots, I know he has taken them into the garden - bless! I hope you
all get to meet him soon. |
